Representation
PNZ members have the opportunity to compete in international competitions as New Zealand Representatives.
World Championships are organised by the Fédération Internationale de Pétanque et Jeu Provençal (FIPJP), the international Petanque Federation.
In alternate years, there are Men's World Championships (Triples in even numbered years), Women's World Championships (Triples in odd numbered years), Junior (17 and under) World Championships (Triples odd numberd years) amd the Multiple World Championships (Men's & Women's Singles/Men's & Women's Doubles/Mixed Doubles).
New Zealand is a member of the Oceania Confederation, along with Australia, New Caledonia, Palau, Tahiti, Wallis and Futuna, and Vanuatu. Oceania Championships are held every 2 years.
Since 2003, an annual Trans Tasman match has been held with Australia in two divisions, Open and Senior (over 60).
From time-to-time PNZ receives invitations from other National Federations to send representative teams to attend events.
Trans Tasman 2026
Registration is now open for players interested in taking part in the 2026 Trans Tasman. The event will be held at Mt Martha, Victoria, Australia (21-22 March 2026).
The NZ team will comprise 24 players, 6 men and 6 women in two divisions, Open and Senior (over 60).
